time to Princess Izabel in 1859, was opened on October 12, 1931, after
5 years under construction. It is located in Rio de Janeiro city, at
the Corcovado Hill, 509 meters away from the sea. Its 38 meters of

The construction of this brazilian proud is considered a chapter in
the history of civil engeneering, and the project owner took his hole
life building the statue on concrete and soapstone, that comes
straight from the Corcovado hill.
Registered by the National Historic Heritage Institute, the statue
suffered important reforms in 1937, 1980, 1990 and 2003. In this last
year, there were created escalators and elevators to make it easier to
get there.
In 2006, on October 12, when the Christ completed 75 years, it was
made into a Catholic Sanctuary, and the Cardeal Archbishop from Rio,
Dom Eusébio Oscar Scheid, wants the heritage to become a pilgrimage
place. As far as it seems, weddings and baptisms may happen on the
base of the statue, where is a chapel of Nossa Senhora Aparecida.

The
wall of China, also known as the Big Wall, was a completo military defense
sistem during the time of the cold army. Today, it shows a cultural relic
that was included in the World Cultural Heritage from Unesco in 1987. The
symbol of the National chinese spirit had five thousand meters and looks
like a huge dragon running its way to the deserts and hills of the County.
Known in China as the Wall of ten thousand Li (two Li equals to one
kilometer), its constructions started before Christ. It came from seven
chinese independent kingdoms on that time, that created seven different
walls in difficult access to defend themselves from the neighbors. Still
by that time, one of those kingdoms won the other six, and than it started
to be created a single big wall, since there was no point on sharing
China, now that it was unified. Since that date, the wall started to be
together, to protect the entire China against the huns invasions, and the
next dynasties kept the maintence and repairs of the wall.
Even though the Wall of China had accomplished its function for a long
time, its existence to humanity today represents a rare cultural,
artistic, architectural and touristic legacy.

Petra,
that means rock in English, in the Aqabata gulf. It's an important
archaeological enclave located in Jordan, in the valley that goes from the
Dead Sea to the Aqaba Gulf , the region that in 1200 b.c. was filled with
the Edomitas tribe, untill the annexation by the Persa Empire, suffered
huge invasions from the Israeli tribes.
Between 64 and 63 b.c. the territory that once was persian, was annexed
to the Roman Empire, that kept giving autonomy to Petra and to the
Nebateus, who colonized the region.
The ruins of Petra became a curious fact only after the Médium Age,
and than on December 6, 1985, they got recognized as Heritage of Humanity
by Unesco.

Machu
Picchu, 112 km distant from Cuzco and 2430 m of high, is located in a
mountain wich name is Old Mountain, translated to English from the known
Inca city. After being hiden for 300 years, its discovery was oficial on
June 24, 1911, and today is part of the Machu Picchus's Historic
Sanctuary.
Machu Picchu presents a bis quantity of temples, recognized by the
quality of its constructions and the finishing mannered. In one of those
temples there is a picture of a cross, the same found in Ollantaytambo, in
Peru and in the ruins of Tihuanaco, in Bolicia, wich proves that the Inca
Empire was across the limits of the ruins of Machu Picchu.
Between al the activities practiced in the inca city, the one that
highlights the most, is the astronomic, and an example of that is the
people that lived there, and had a temple named 'Sun Temple', where there
is just a window that is shined by the first sun rays, exactly at 7:15 in
the morning, in June 21, the beginning of the winter solstice.
The city, inhabited by Incas, doesn't keep any clue of the whereabouts
of its inhabitants. And since they didn't have the writing yet, the
discovery of this mistery gets even harder.

The
most famous temple Maia city is an archaeological region from this people
that is located in the State of Yucată, in Mexico. Is estimed that
Chichén-Itzá has been funded around the year 435 and 455 and was
recognized as World Heritage in 1988.
The region was the political and economical center of its inhabitants
and its many spaces: the piramide from Kukulkan, the temple of Chac Mool,
the Mil Colunas square, and the Game Camps from the prisoners, may be
visited and are campo for photographs and an extraordinary commitment to
the preservation of the culture of our ancestrals. The piramide was the
last and, wihout a doubt, the biggest construction from the Maia
civilization.
The Castle in Chichén Itzá, was raised in harmony with the Maia
calendar. There are 91 degrees on each one of the four sides, being the
total 364 degrees. With the superior plataform, that reaches the four
sides, it gets to 365 degrees. There is still the view of a serpent that
moves towards the sun location, places by the side of the staircase.

The
Coliseum, also known as the Amphitheater Flaviano from Rome, capital of
Italy, was built between the decades of 70 and 80s, during the Roman
Empire. This amphitheater opened to the sky was the stage of many fights
between gladiators, shows with beasts and even naval battles.
It was made of marble, tile, stone and travertine tuft, though they
were not strong enough to stand after a earthquacke on the beginning of
the fifth century, so it was repaired after. Some times later, it was used
as habitation, factory, fort, quarry, religious orders, cristian temple,
and even point of thieves that got into the historic place to steal part
of the rich construction materials.
Nowadays, the Coliseum is one of the most visited touristic points in
Italy, and evey year on the Saint Friday, has a procession made by the
Pope, called 'The cross way'.

A
huge monument, Taj Mahal is a mausoleum all made of marble, surrounded by
beautiful gardens, located close to Agra (New Delhi's south). It was built
for the fifth islamic Emperor's (Shan Jahan) dead and beloved third wife.
Mumtaz Mahal, "the palace jewelry" as she was known, died after
giving birth to her 14th kid. The palace was made above her tomb, close to
the Yamuna river.
The biggest love proof in the world, as it's considered this construction
made by over 22 thousand men, is full of valuable raw materials like
semi-precious stones and gold threads in his dome.
Despite its opulence, this historical heritage classified by Unesco in
1993, it's not a palace, but a mausoleum. And the legend tells that Shan
Jahan, after getting sick, passed the rest of his days watching Taj Mahal
by his window, and after his death was buried in the same place, next to
his wife, creating the only break of the set of perfect symmetry.
